We encourage our members and friends to consider donating their genealogical materials.

Donations come in many forms including books and other material (family histories, periodicals, manuscripts, etc.), photos, and artifacts with a historical significance of relevant to genealogy or local history.  All are greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to accept everything that is offered to us but we will work with potential donors to find an appropriate repository.

Whether with AAHGS-DC or another organization, we urge everyone to plan for a place to preserve and protect your family treasures and make them available to future generations of family history researchers.

We also greatly appreciate financial contributions.  AAHGS-DC is a 501(C)(3) non-profit membership organization committed to the history, genealogy, and culture of the African-Ancestored populations of the local DC, national and international community.  A financial contribution will help us fulfill this mission and continue to provide educational programming for all.
